SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police say a 9-year-old boy drove his grandfather's Jeep into a neighbor's house after his grandfather let him try to back the vehicle out of his driveway.

Investigators say the boy panicked and accidentally pushed down on the accelerator too much.

They say the Jeep then crashed into Kathy Adams' living room Saturday afternoon, resulting in major damage.

Adams told KUTV-TV she was inside watching TV at the time and the impact caused a couch to roll onto her foot. She escaped with a minor injury.

Police say the grandfather was in the passenger seat of the Jeep and received a citation. His name wasn't released.
