SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Four suspected drug dealers have been formally charged in Salt Lake City in what police are calling a "drive-up" heroin ring that operated like pizza delivery service.
The four are among 10 men who were arrested last week, including 28-year-old Carlos Santiago-Casenada. He was charged in 3rd District Court on Monday with the most counts, including money laundering, unlawful activity, possession with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The Deseret News reports (http://tinyurl.com/qf7zaqs ) court records allege the ring leaders hid and transferred money to suppliers in Mexico.
Police say drug purchasers called "dispatchers" to place orders and receive a pickup location, where they would be handed their order via a "runner."
More charges are pending in what investigators also called a "dial-a-dope" operation.
