SOUTH JORDAN, Utah (AP) — A man who has a passion for pigeons has filed a lawsuit seeking to block the city of South Jordan from removing the birds on his property.
Boris Majnaric says he wants to be able to keep tending to some 200 pigeons that are attracted to his yard daily.
He lives in a small loft in his backyard with pigeons of various colors and varieties. He also had a gazebo built in the yard just for pigeons.
KSL reports (http://bit.ly/1hjKARY ) that his federal lawsuit, filed last month, seeks an injunction to block the city from razing the loft and gazebo and "cruelly" destroying the pigeons.
City officials cite complaints from neighbors about pigeons perching on houses, defecating on their roofs and patios, and turning up dead in their yards.
Majnaric would have to find a home for all but 40 birds to comply with South Jordan ordinances.
