VIENNA (AP) — A farmer who was attacked by a nearly grown calf has died, making him the third person killed in Austria by cattle in a little more than a month.

The man sustained serious head injuries in late August after the 650-kilogram (1,430-pound) animal pushed him against a steel cage on his farm 30 kilometers (about 20 miles) northeast of Salzburg.

His death Tuesday was announced by Salzburg province hospital. The man wasn't identified in keeping with Austrian confidentiality rules.

Another farmer working in his stall was killed by a steer in mid-August, about two weeks after a herd of cows attacked and killed a German woman hiking through their pasture in Tyrol province.
