BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Glaz-Tech Industries will make a $4 million investment and create 50 new jobs in Baton Rouge at a new glass manufacturing facility, state and company officials said Friday.
The average salary at the plant will be $34,000 per year, plus benefits.
"Louisiana continues to attract a broad array of manufacturing companies focused on our state's growing economy," Gov. Bobby Jindal said.
The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/1oBO06q) Glaz-Tech, headquartered in Tucson, Arizona, recently acquired a 25,000-square-foot manufacturing building in Baton Rouge, where the company is completing renovation work and building a 15,000-square-foot addition. The facility, its eighth, will make and distribute glass products across a 400-mile radius along the Gulf Coast.
"We are proud to embrace our eighth location of Glaz-Tech Industries and are equally ambitious to begin serving Baton Rouge and its surrounding areas," President Pete Fazlollah said.
The company said it will begin hiring and initial operations by September and complete its expansion within the next six months.
To secure the project, Louisiana Economic Development offered Glaz-Tech use of the state's FastStart workforce development program. The company also is expected to use Louisiana's Quality Jobs and Industrial Tax Exemption programs.
Glaz-Tech began operations in 1990 and produces tempered safety and insulation glass for residential and commercial construction markets, with a variety of specialty products for mirrors, shower doors, decorative surfaces, windows, doors and enclosures.
The company also has locations in Phoenix, Arizona; Denver, Colorado; Salt Lake City, Utah; Albuquerque, New Mexico; El Paso, Texas; and Boise, Idaho.
