PARIS (AP) — French authorities say that two trains carrying a total of 238 passengers have collided near the southwestern French city of Pau, injuring 25.
A national TGV train bound for Paris collided head-on with a regional train Thursday during the evening commute in the town of Deguin, said Pyrenees-Atlantiques prefectural spokesman Patrice Abbadie.
Nine of the injuries were serious but no fatalities were expected, Abbadie said.
It was not immediately clear what caused the collision. Emergency services including ambulances, helicopters and fire engines were dispatched to the scene.
