NEW YORK (AP) — Terry McMillan is ending a long-term relationship — with her publisher.

The author of such best-sellers as "Waiting to Exhale" and "Disappearing Acts" has left Viking after 25 years and signed with Crown Publishers for her next novel. Crown announced Monday that McMillan's next book will be called "I Almost Forgot About You," the story of a woman "who shakes things up in her life."

Viking issued a statement Monday saying that it had been unable to come to terms with the author and wishing her "every success" in the future.

McMillan isn't leaving home entirely. Both Crown and Viking are part of Penguin Random House, although imprints within the company sometimes compete for authors.

Earlier this year, Viking lost another longtime star, T. Coraghessan Boyle, who joined Ecco.
