SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Illinois lawmakers are expected to take on other issues this week while a vote on an income tax increase looms.
The Senate adjourned Monday without hearing any major issues facing the Legislature this spring.
Lawmakers are tasked with passing a state budget and deciding whether to extend the temporary income tax. State revenues would drop by $1.6 billion if lawmakers let it roll back in 2015.
Lawmakers are expected to hear several other issues this week — including regulations on ridesharing companies such as Uber, Lyft, and Sidecar. House lawmakers may vote on a plan to lure Barack Obama's presidential library to Illinois by allowing the state to spend $100 million on the project.
A group of university presidents are lobbying for need-based scholarship funding Tuesday at the state Capitol.
