LAS VEGAS (AP) — Jury selection has begun for the murder trial of a former Cirque du Soleil (sihrk doo soh-LAY') performer accused of killing and dismembering his ex-girlfriend, a dancer at another Las Vegas Strip resort. Clark County District Judge Kathleen Delaney is allowing jurors to be referred to by numbers instead of names as she questions them about what they heard previously about the case.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — McCarran International Airport is welcoming a Swiss airline's inaugural flight from Zurich to Las Vegas. The Edelweiss Air flight from Kloten Airport arrived yesterday afternoon. Edelweiss plans to offer round trips between Las Vegas and Zurich twice a week. Officials in Las Vegas have been trying to encourage more international tourism, which tends to be more lucrative because guests stay longer.

HESPERIA, Calif. (AP) — Interstate 15 is expected to remain closed northeast of Los Angeles for up to two days after a fire erupted where a bridge is being constructed. The freeway — Southern California's main connector to Las Vegas — was closed after a construction worker's blowtorch accidentally ignited the bridge's wooden supports. The closure is just north of the Cajon Pass.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson says success comes to people willing to take risks and break free from the status quo. The 80-year-old CEO's advice came during a talk at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The school is hosting a leadership discussion series called "Conversations on Being Successful."
