Police Chief Chris Burbank says officials will now post online information involved in hundreds of rape cases. On Tuesday, Salt Lake City Council members criticized a backlog in the processing.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A 21-year-old Salt Lake City man is pleading guilty to gun and hate crime charges after admitting he shot out windows at a Salt Lake City synagogue two years ago. A federal grand jury indictment accused Macon Openshaw of intentionally shooting at the Congregation Kol Ami synagogue. He pleaded guilty and will pay restitution in exchange for a five-year prison sentence.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Pleasant Grove police investigators say a 39-year-old woman accused of killing her newborn babies gave birth at home, rather than going to a hospital. Megan Huntsman is accused of concealing seven pregnancies before strangling or suffocating her newborns. She is being held on $6 million bail and is due in court on Monday.
TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (AP) — Taylorsville police are investigating the suspicious death of a woman whose body was found inside her home. Investigators have released few details but told KUTV they are treating the death as a homicide. Police were called to the home by family members who were concerned that they had not heard from the 59-year-old woman since Saturday.
