LAS VEGAS (AP) — Several Nevada government and business leaders plan to voice support for a federal campaign to limit carbon pollution from power plants around the nation in an effort to address global climate change. Organizers say a rally today in Las Vegas will follow an EPA announcement with a list of Nevada businesses supporting the idea of a state clean power plan.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A new Associated Press-GfK poll finds most Americans think of water as a limited resource that can be depleted if people use too much. The national survey of 1,004 adults found that two-thirds believe water is a limited resource that should be conserved. And 70 percent believe government should restrict how much residents and businesses use when drought takes hold.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — President Barack Obama will be the keynote speaker at a Las Vegas clean energy summit later this month. Sen. Harry Reid says the president will speak about securing greater energy independence and creating jobs through renewable energy initiatives at the National Clean Energy Summit on Aug. 24. It will be held at the Mandalay Bay Resort Convention Center.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Republicans angry that Nevada lawmakers approved a $1.1 billion tax package this spring are launching efforts to repeal part of it and kick some of its backers out of office. A PAC called NV80 and a group called Priorities Nevada are reviewing language for a ballot measure. They're allowed to formally launch a bid as soon as today.
