LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada gambling regulators are calling the bankruptcy of Caesars Entertainment Corp.'s debt-heavy subsidiary an embarrassment and lamenting the company's inability to pay 63 former executives some $33 million in promised pension payments. The Nevada Gaming Commission pressed Caesars executives today about the pension payments that aren't guaranteed in the case of a bankruptcy.

FALLON, Nev. (AP) — Union Pacific officials hope to a reopen a stretch of one of the busiest east-west railroad routes in the nation by tomorrow after a freight train derailed in Nevada's high desert about 60 miles east of Reno. About 30 freight trains and another three Amtrak passenger trains had to be rerouted after 34 rail cars on a 51-car train derailed yesterday afternoon 22 miles north of Fallon.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — An April 7 court date has been set in a Louisiana state court for Darren Sharper, the former NFL star who has entered pleas in four states where he is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting women. So far, Sharper has pleaded guilty to charges in Las Vegas and Arizona, and no-contest in Los Angeles.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Television personality Suzanne Somers is bringing a nightclub act to Las Vegas starting in May. Westgate Las Vegas officials announced this week that the "Dancing with the Stars" contestant will perform a 70-minute musical show dubbed "Suzanne Sizzles" that promises a Rat Pack-era cabaret vibe in an intimate venue at the casino-hotel.
