OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — The Oxford School Board is looking into private cafeteria services.
The Oxford Eagle reports (http://bit.ly/1vSAeRl ) the board wants to hear what private companies can provide.
Superintendent Brian Harvey says the decision to ask for proposals doesn't mean a decision has been made to outsource food management.
Harvey says he visited a La Grange, Georgia, school district and saw a wider variety of offerings, more brand name items and a higher percentage of student participation.
Harvey says school board will look into the services' ability to work with programs such as Good Food for Oxford Schools and supervision of cafeteria employees. Harvey says if the district moves to private food management services, no cafeteria employees will lose their jobs.
Harvey says he has talked with two companies.
