Paul Ray says the firing squad offers a more humane death than lethal injection.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police are looking for four teenagers who fled a vacant two-story apartment building in South Salt Lake that burned yesterday afternoon. One firefighter was treated on the scene for hand burns and another was transported to a hospital with burns to his leg. The building is part of a three-building complex owned by the city and slated for eventual demolition.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A judge says a 43-year-old River Heights woman is not mentally fit to stand trial in the death of her 2-year-old son. Heidi Rutchey has been treated at the Utah State Hospital for a year, but administrators report she remains incompetent for trial. She faces a murder charge in the August 2013 death of her son Eli.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The chief justice of the Utah Supreme Court says Utah lawmakers should consider raising the salaries of the state's judges. Chief Justice Matthew Durrant endorsed the proposal during his annual State of the Judiciary address to lawmakers. Judicial salaries were last increased in 2007.
