LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada state officials are inviting construction firm owners to take part in an upcoming building trades hiring event at the Cashman Center conference hall in Las Vegas.

Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation chief Don Soderberg says the March 3 job fair aims to help employers find experienced tradespeople now that the economy is improving.

Soderberg says hundreds of jobseekers are expected to turn out for on-site interviews.

The event is being co-sponsored by Workforce Connections and Nevada JobConnect.

Soderberg says the Nevada construction industry lost almost 100,000 jobs during the Great Recession. But he says 6,700 jobs were restored in 2014, and analysts project another 26,000 jobs will be added by 2017.

Employers interested in participating can reach Mae Worthey at wmworthey@nvdetr.org or call 702-486-7991.
