LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada gambling regulators are making their first foray into the world of medical marijuana in a case involving a slot route operator with ties to one of the new medical pot dispensaries in Las Vegas. The Gaming Control Board told owners of a Las Vegas restaurant they need to find a new operator with no connections to the medical marijuana business. The recommendation goes to the state Gaming Commission July 24.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A former Las Vegas strip club dancer has pleaded guilty to a charge stemming from a crash that killed a man and injured his 2-year-old son. The Las Vegas Sun reports Shauna Miller entered the plea a week before her trial was set to begin. Prosecutors said she more than five times the legal limit of THC, the active ingredient of cannabis, in her system.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — A 24-year-old Reno man has been arrested on drug and animal cruelty charges after the manager of a Reno motel reported suspicious activity in one of the rooms. Washoe County sheriff's deputies say they arrested Jason Brown and charged him with five felony counts of willful torture of an animal. His bail was set at $55,000.
ELKO, Nev. (AP) — Officials in Elko hope an extension with Reno-based marketing firm Younger Agency will increase airport traffic. The Elko Regional Airport has budgeted $27,000 for a campaign that includes promotional airfares and social media marketing. The Airport Director says he hopes the efforts persuade Skywest Airlines to continue its service to the city.
