(KSL News) The state of Utah today settled a lawsuit against the Boy Scouts of America.
The suit set out to recoup the cost of fighting a forest fire near the East Fork of the Bear River five years ago. Scouts were found to have started the blaze with a campfire.
Under the terms of the deal the Great Salt Lake Council of the Boy Scouts will not only reimburse the state, they will also oversee the planting of 9,000 tree seedlings and initiate a fire safety and wildfire prevention program.
