PARK CITY -- The name Joan Rivers conjures up images of an American icon. Now she's the subject of a Sundance Film Festival documentary.

Rivers blew into Park City Monday evening just in time for the premiere of "Joan Rivers - A Piece of Work." After more than 40 years in show business, this woman still charges through life with enthusiasm, sarcasm and determination.

Looking like a million bucks at age 76, Rivers had her festival spotlight.

"This is the premier, and I think that it is hilarious that we are in a Jewish temple. Six of my relatives are downstairs praying," Rivers joked. "I think that it is very exciting. It's terrific."

For 14 months, she allowed filmmakers to follow every aspect of her life.

"This is probably the only documentary at Sundance they'll (festival goers) come out smiling," Rivers said.

She calls being with the crew a reunion, but she is really here, she said, for the swag.

"I took the time to be here because they have gift suites, and I am not stupid," Rivers said. "I am coming home with all of my Christmas gifts."

"Joan Rivers - A Piece of Work" has five more screenings in Park City, in Salt Lake City and at the Sundance Resort. Creators of the film are hoping for a distributor and continued success.

The festival runs through Jan. 31.
