GREEN RIVER, Utah (AP) -- Some in Green River would welcome a nuclear power plant for the jobs it could create.
Others say there isn't enough water to supply what the power plant would need.
The Utah Division of Water Rights is holding hearings in Green River on an application by Utah-based Blue Castle Holdings to take water out of the Green River.
The Salt Lake Tribune reported on its Web site Tuesday that some residents at the hearing were divided over the water diversion, which could take 10 percent of the Green River's flow in a drought year.
The newspaper reported that former Utah Water Engineer Jerry Olds, hired by Blue Castle, says the Green River has enough water for a nuclear power plant.
