SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Utah is getting help to improve Internet connections at the state's libraries.
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation says it will help Utah and other states qualify for federal stimulus funding for broadband connections.
The Gates Foundation also pledges to pay for some or all of the required match for federal grants.
Utah state librarian Donna Jones Morris says many libraries don't have adequate Internet transmission speeds, especially for multimedia use.
Morris says the libraries need a "wider" Internet pipe.
The foundation of Microsoft Corp.'s co-founder Bill Gates says it has already invested $350 million in library computers and Internet connections across the country.
