There's a movement afoot on Utah's Capitol Hill to scrap the electoral college.
Ogden Democrat Neil Hansen says bills similar to his have already been considered in some states. They're up for discussion in 45 more this year, part of a national campaign for a popular vote.
Neil Hansen: "It would make it so every 50 states in the Union would get presidential attention."
He says right now that's just not happening.
Neil Hansen: "Republic candidates won't come because they know they've got Utah sewed up. Democratic candidates won't come."
It's unclear how this is going to go over on Utah's Capitol Hill. The bill goes before a house committee this afternoon.
