SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Fruit Heights Senator Greg Bell says Weber State University needs an electrical engineering program.

Bell (a Republican) plans to present his bill for a higher education engineering partnership to the Senate Education Committee this morning.

Under the bill, Weber State and Utah State University would establish an electrical engineering program at the Weber-Davis campus. As proposed, Utah State would teach and certify the classes.

Bell says the program is important for the Weber-Davis campus because many high-tech companies such as Boeing, Grumman and TRW have located near Hill Air Force Base, and the companies need engineers.
