PLEASANT GROVE -- A 14-year-old girl was seriously injured Monday evening when her foot was run over by a semi truck.
The girl and a friend were standing on the corner of 600 West and Center Street in Pleasant Grove when a tractor-trailer carrying two trailers full of rock made a right-hand turn from 600 West to Center Street.
The girls were facing away from the intersection when a set of rear tires on the vehicle's rear trailer caught the teen's ankle. Her foot was completely severed.
The driver of the semi truck did not stop, and police believe he probably did not know he had hit the girl.
The girl was taken to a local hospital where she is currently undergoing surgery.
Police have located the truck they believe was involved and are testing it to make sure. They are not anticipating any charges against the driver.
