SALT LAKE CITY -- A 21-year-old man will spend up to 10 years behind bars for his role in a fatal shooting in a 2005.
On Monday, Moses Unique Ellis was sentenced to up to five years for homicide by assault and up to five years for illegal discharge of a firearm.
He pleaded guilty to those charges on July 21 as part of a plea deal with prosecutors.
On Nov. 27, 2005, Ellis was involved in a gang fight near Terrace Hills Drive and 11th Avenue that left Salvador Gomez dead. Two other people were injured.
He was 17 at the time of the shooting, but was tried as an adult. He was on the run for a while. The Metro Gang Unit named him a "Public Enemy No. 1."
In October 2006, he turned himself in.
