Paul Nelson, KSL Newsradio West Jordan is using a new way to get rid of items seized by police. They're joining other cities in participating what could be called the E-Bay for cops.

It's called propertyroom.com, and site officials say you can get a "steal of a deal." Yeah, it's a bad joke.

Randy Gerona, West Jordan Police Evidence Custodian: "Tools [are] a lot of the things that we have here. There are backpacks, purses, wallets."

Gerona says they ship their evidence to site officials, and they decide what they'll sell. Sergeant Bruce Shepherd says they've held they're own auctions, and sometimes those lose money.

Bruce Shepherd: "There is a percentage that they take out and is returned back to the City of West Jordan's General Fund. So, it comes back to the city."

West Jordan officials say they don't plan on sending anything weird to site managers, like you could find on E-Bay. So, you won't find half-eaten sandwiches from celebrity criminals.
