SLCPD motor squad takes top honors at competition

Press releaseSALT LAKE CITY -- The Salt Lake City Police Department participated in the 4th Annual Utah Highway Patrol Police Motorcycle Training and Competition held August 28-29, 2009, in Lindon, Utah.

The Police Department sent 10 officers and one sergeant to compete against 50 colleagues from Idaho, Louisiana, and Nevada; as well as many local agencies. The final results:

  • Harley Road King Class: SLCPD took the top 8 positions.
  • BMW/Honda Class: SLCPD took 2nd and 4th place.
  • Overall Rankings: Harley, 2nd place; BMW/Honda Class: 2nd place
  • Team Barrel Race: 2nd and 3rd place
  • Slow Race: 2nd place

The annual competition serves to hone and match skills with the best officers in and out of state. Many thanks to the Motor Squad members who participated: Sgt. Jeff Kendrick and Officers Robert Hawke, Tyler Reinwand, Scott Smith, Jeff Loosle, Tom Wind, Lonnie Martinez, Michael Blackburn, Darren Austill, Kody Boehme, and James Hallock.
