LOGAN, Utah (AP) -- A group that traps and then spays and neuters feral cats on the Utah State University campus wants to take the population-control program citywide.
The university-sponsored Aggie Cats group has been feeding, trapping, fixing, vaccinating and then releasing cats for five years.
Logan spends about $30,000 per year housing and euthanizing animals, primarily cats. In June, the city proposed cat registration and licensing fees to help pay for the program.
But the student group offered an alternative, saying they could bring down the population through a catch-fix-release program.
The issue is expected to come before the city council again in September.
