LOGAN -- A Logan woman is charged with sexually abusing a child. She faces a dozen felony charges, including rape, sodomy, and aggravated sex abuse of a child.

Logan police say the alleged victim is now is in his 20s but was a younger boy at the time of the alleged crime.

Captain Jeff Curtis of the Logan Police Department says this is a difficult case for officers. "It's a sad fact of life that these types of things take place and happen in our society, but they do," he said.

Police learned of the alleged abuse after a tip that a 5-year-old was being abused by the suspect. Investigators are still looking into those claims.

"That did lead to some other facts that (something) had been happening to some people who are adults now," Curtis said.

Officers arrested the suspect last week following a months-long investigation. She has been booked into the Cache County Jail. Bail is set at $240,000.
