SALT LAKE CITY -- Sen. Orrin Hatch met Tuesday with Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor. He then released a statement calling her "personable" and "experienced."
Hatch said Sotomayor appreciates the gravity of the position to which she's been nominated and was willing to provide the Senate with what it needs for the confirmation process.
He said he told her she needs to clarify statements made in the past that some have called racist so senators can fully evaluate her judicial philosophy and qualifications.[CLICK HERE to read Hatch's statement]
