SANDY -- After 15 years as Sandy City Fire Chief, Don Chase is retiring and will be replaced by Don Rosenkrantz, who's been with the Sandy Fire Department for 34 years.

Chief Chase started with the Sandy City Fire Department in 1974 and was appointed fire chief in 1994.

Chase is credited with upgrading paramedic services and ensuring that all fire stations had adequate training and personnel. He is responsible for the building of a fifth fire station and increasing safety resources and reducing response times.

This subsequently reduced fire insurance premiums for businesses and residents of Sandy.

Chief Rosenkrantz started with Sandy in 1976 and has served in every role the fire department offers.

He has served as the assistant to Chief Don Chase since 2006.

Chief Rosenkrantz states, "The residents of Sandy have been fortunate to have the leadership and devotion of Chief Chase for all these years. We will work hard to maintain the level of service that has become a standard for the community."
