Missing boy is found safe

A missing 8-year-old boy has been found safe. Apparently he was at a friend's house that was not on the police's list to check.

Kenneth Anderson, who goes by Keenan, had last been seen at lunchtime Thursday at Hayden Peak Elementary School in West Jordan. Late Thursday, police issued an Endangered Person Advisory for the boy because they were concerned he was in the cold. They had no evidence that he had been abducted.

Police used a bloodhound and a helicopter to search the school and his neighborhood near 7700 South and 4800 West overnight.

They say he was found this morning at a friend's house about half a mile from his own home. "It's my understanding that the parent woke up and found an extra child getting ready for school, so that's how it happened," said Sgt. Drew Sanders of the West Jordan Police Department.

Police say they were about to activate a reverse 911 calling system for the second time, so the friend's family likely would have received a call this morning anyway.

Earlier, the reverse 911 was issued in the boy's neighborhood.
