It was a good night for Utah on "American Idol." The Salt Lake auditions for the hit TV show were finally shown last night, and for the most part the judges liked what they heard.
They started with an Osmond. Judge Simon Cowell asked David Osmond, "I'm sure you get asked this all the time, but are you a relative?"
David said, "I'm one of a million, yes."
The show went more in-depth into David's background, revealing that the 29-year-old Provo native and his father Alan Osmond both suffer from multiple sclerosis.
The judges put Osmond through to the Hollywood round. They also advanced Austin Sisneros, the senior class president at Riverton High School. He charmed them into letting him sing two songs.
Other favorites were 16-year-old Taylor Vaifanua from Hurricane, Utah, and 23-year-old Megan Corkrey from Sandy. Cowell said she was "one of my favorite auditions, because you're different. You are one of the few I'm going to remember."
They may also remember 26-year-old Chris Kirkham from Ogden, who brought along a man in a bunny suit for good luck. He did not make it through to the next round.
The hour-long episode referenced Murray's David Archuleta, who finished second last season. The judges also seemed surprised by how nice all the people who auditioned were, even when they were told no.
