SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Salt Lake City International Airport closed one of its four runways to commercial jets Friday evening because of heavy fog.
Airport spokeswoman Barbara Gann says 22 flights were diverted to other airports between 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., and numerous flights were delayed because of the fog.
She says diversions, delays and cancellations are possible throughout the night if the fog doesn't lift, and activity at the airport is limited.
Gann notes that each airline has its own policies and procedures for allowing planes to take off or land on the other open runways, which are also under heavy fog.
