It's the case of the missing computers at a hospital in Tremonton.

Someone made off with $50,000 worth of equipment for the Bear River Valley Hospital, mostly in just a couple of machines and a call system. Tremonton Police Chief Dave Nance says their value comes from how specialized they are. He says, "These aren't computers that they're going to be able to take and put in their home and set up for a nice home computer system."

But Nance is hoping by putting out the story, the burglar or burglars will hear it and do the right thing. He says, "We just obviously don't want these people to get frustrated and say, well they [aren't any] good, so they'll go throw it in the dumpster or use it for target practice or something like that."

The computers and call system were taken from a storage shed used by Bear River Valley Hospital as they build their new building. The computers arrived earlier than expected and were put into storage because they couldn't yet install them. The hospital realized the equipment was missing over the holidays.

Because the equipment had never been used to care for patients yet, no patient information was compromised with the theft. The new hospital building opens in February.

Anyone with information about the missing hospital equipment can call the Tremonton Police Department at 435-257-2632.
