(KSL News) We launched a nationwide phenomenon on Christmas Eve when we told you about a shoplifting dog.
The unidentified Siberian Husky entered Smith's Food and Drug store in Murray, made a beeline for the pet aisle and snatched a rawhide bone from a shelf. He was last seen racing out of the store with the bone clutched firmly in his teeth.
The story generated big national interest, with regular showings on CNN and one of the busiest days ever at KSL.com.
A Washington State woman now claims the dog is her Siberian Husky. Chanda McKeever says her dog, Balto, escaped four months ago at a motel in Oregon. She believes he wandered to the Salt Lake Valley.
There's no way to confirm, right now, if Balto really is the same dog generating fan mail here at KSL.
