Police say a Cedar Hills couple had several people coming to their home everyday for sex. And from their earnings, the couple had purchased a new truck, remodeled their house and was planning a vacation out of the country.
Lorraine Jenks, 40, and Jeff Jenks, 43, were arrested on Dec. 19. following a three-week police investigation.
Detectives say the couple had multiple clients coming in everyday and were being paid several hundred dollars for each appointment. And police add that what was being advertised as a massage parlor involved more than a massage.
Residents of a Cedar Hills neighborhood noticed over the past four months that something unusual was going on at a house. Police spent three weeks investigating and, with the help of an informant, discovered it was a house of prostitution. American Fork police Lt. Darren Falslev said, "There was some inappropriate activity of a sexual nature going on. It turns out the adult occupants of the home we're engaging in acts of prostitution."
Police say Lorraine Jenks was providing the sex acts, while her husband was making sure customers paid and was even advertising the business on popular Internet sites.
"They were using several social networking sites, and they were advertising it was massage. But when the callers would make contact, they would advise them that much more would take place than a massage," Falslev said.
Investigators served a search warrant at the home and seized a video camera, which was used in the room where the prostitution was happening. According to police, Jeff Jenks would watch from another room in the home.
Police fear the prostitution ring brought sex offenders to the neighborhood, putting children at risk. Falslev said, "There are kids playing in the front yards, as we were carrying out the operation, who knows who they are bringing in and the safety risk that has been brought to the community, that's probably the scariest part of the whole thing."
Both suspects have already bailed out of jail and face charges of prostitution. Police say they are watching the home to make sure the illegal activity does not continue.
