In the middle of a lot of news about layoffs, at least one company is talking about adding to its numbers. In fact, U.S. Bank is hosting a job fair tonight.
The bank is trying to fill positions created by its acquisition of branches in Smith's stores in Utah and Nevada. The acquisition adds more than 20 U.S. Bank branches to Utah, and Utah market president Damon Miller says the Minnesota-based bank still sees this area as a growth market.
"I think we've received something close to 500 applications already, and that's for 80 jobs. So, I think that's indicative that there's a fairly high demand amongst the population to find good jobs," Miller said.
Miller says though the bank is certainly not immune from what's been going on, it has actually weathering things pretty well. He says most of the jobs being offered are full time.
The job fair is tonight from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Spring Hill Marriott Hotel, located at 635 South and 300 West in Salt Lake City. If you can't make tonight's job fair, CLICK HERE for more information on the jobs being offered.
