(KSL News) Ten of thousands of Latter-day Saints filled the Conference Center this evening for the annual First Presidency Christmas broadcast.

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square performed traditional Christmas hymns with the congregation joining in. The three Church leaders delivered messages about the birth of Jesus Christ and shared stories from their childhood or of their families. They encouraged Church members to remember others during this season.

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Second Counselor in the First Presidency, said, "The economic challenges of this year may cause some to scale back their gift giving, but I wonder if this may be a blessing in disguise."

President Henry B. Eyring, First Counselor in First Presidency said, "You and your family may have built your own Christmas traditions to fit your circumstances, but they will have some things in common: they will draw hearts to the Savior, they will include acts of kindness, which, in the world to come, will merit approbation of the Savior as he welcomes those he honors with the title of being His Sheep."

Church President Thomas S. Monson told members, "There is yet time this year to extend a helping hand, a loving heart, and a willing spirit. In other words, to follow the example set by our Savior and to serve as he would have us serve."

The message was carried by satellite for Latter-day Saints around the world.
