(KSL News) An Obama win in '08 could mean a Romney candidacy in 2012.
A Newsweek poll published this week finds that a majority of Republicans would pick Romney as their candidate for the 2012 race if McCain is not elected next Tuesday.
Previously Romney has said he would not be interested in a 2012 run. A spokesman for Romney said his "only ambition" right now is getting Republicans elected this fall.
And Utahns are reaching out to help Romney help other Republicans. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Utahns have given close to a quarter million dollars to Romney's Free and Strong America political-action committee in the past eight months.
The money from that PAC is being distributed to Republican candidates across the nation, including Jason Chaffetz in the race for Utah's 3rd District Congressional seat.
Prior to the formation of the PAC, Utahns donated more than $5.5 million to Romney's presidential bid.
