PROVO, Utah (AP) -- A 4th District judge is ordering a man accused of murdering his wife in a church parking lot to pay $1 million to his children in a wrongful death lawsuit.

David Ragsdale is charged with aggravated murder for the January shooting death of his wife, Kristy.

Attorneys for Ragsdale's two sons filed the lawsuit against him in June after a judge ruled there was enough evidence for him to stand trial on the murder charge. Several witnesses were in the parking lot at the time of the shooting.

Ragsdale's public defender, Dusty Kawai, says Ragsdale decided he wouldn't fight the lawsuit when he realized he could still get an attorney even if he didn't have any money.
