SALT LAKE CITY — KSL Homes recently partnered with Homie, a Utah-based tech startup seeking to simplify the process of buying and selling a home, offering users a broad range of additional services.

KSL Homes is a classifieds website and app that features properties for sale and rent in Utah, posted by both individuals and agents. Homie is a technology platform that helps homebuyers and sellers connect and transact during the process of selling a home, rather than going through a third-party service.

"Homie’s technology platform streamlines the entire real estate purchase process and saves its users thousands of dollars in real estate commissions and mortgage fees," KSL Homes said in a news release.

The partnership allows users to take advantage of enhanced marketing, legal services and automated home tours. Anyone who upgrades with Homie on KSL Homes also receives assistance with "legal paperwork, professional photography, call screening, home value reports, a yard sign with solar-powered lighting and additional advertising exposure on other home search sites," according to KSL Homes.

“KSL Homes has historically been a great platform for individuals to promote their home on their own,” said Eric Bright, vice president of Marketplace Commerce at Deseret Digital Media. “Partnering with Homie gives our DIY customers more tools to not just market their property on KSL Homes, but to successfully sell it.”

Customers can schedule a tour or make an offer directly to the homeowner or their agent through KSL Homes and Homie's software and real estate attorneys can help those customers through the purchase process.

“Most people find their new home on their own. We help them take the next step after they find it,” said Johnny Hanna, CEO of Homie. “You have more negotiating leverage when you make an offer through Homie because the seller doesn’t have to pay a buyer’s agent thousands of dollars. It’s a win-win for buyers and sellers.”

According to Homie, the company has saved Utahns $3,583,545 in real estate commissions by helping over 500 families sell their home in the last few months, and KSL Homes hopes to expand those benefits to its customers as well.
