Salt Lake City's police chief will head to Israel later this week to learn more about how it responds to terrorism and disasters.

Chris Burbank and a contingent of other police chiefs from across the country are scheduled to arrive in Israel on Sunday. They'll spend a week there learning anti-terrorism strategies at airports, border crossings and other public areas. They'll also see how Israel responds to disasters with mass casualties.

Chief Chris Burbank says it's all about prevention. "Really, at the end of the day, we are the prevention. First responders, police across this country are usually the ones that will interdict terrorist activity before it occurs," he said.

The Anti-Defamation League is sponsoring the trip. Burbank applied for and became one of a number of Chiefs of Police who will spend a week in Israel learning about security and prevention.

Burbank says he also wants to learn about impact, specifically, the impact of strict security measures on people who live there.
