(KSL News) A man was shot outside a downtown club overnight and his accused shooter is in jail.
Salt Lake City police say around 1:45 a.m., 20-year-old Daniel Clemons got into an argument with another man at Club Manhattan, located at 5 E. 400 South. They say he pulled an assault rifle and shot the man in the stomach.
Police say Clemons then took off in a car driven by Jeremy Crist. Two off-duty officers spotted the men near I-15 and pulled them over. Clemons took off on foot, but officers found him in a nearby gravel yard.
Lt. Scott White of the Salt Lake City Police Department said, "We were able to find him hiding in a large piece of machinery on the property. He was taken into custody."
Clemons was booked into jail on suspicion of attempted homicide.
Crist and two women, Destinee Williams and Tacota Lemuel, who police believe were trying to help Clemons, were also arrested.
The shooting victim was in stable condition. The Deseret News identifies him as 22-year-old Tyler Lee.
