AMERICAN FORK — A construction worker was killed Tuesday after being crushed by a concrete wall.

The accident happened about 9 a.m. near 870 S. Auto Mall Drive. American Fork Fire Capt. Michal Cieslak said a crane was helping set concrete walls when something went wrong.

The crane's boom, or the part of the machine that is used to transport objects, struck a loose concrete wall, which hit the man, she said. The crane was carrying another wall at the time, according to Cieslak.

The man, who was in his 20s, was pronounced dead by the time rescue crews arrived. Investigators said his name would not be released until Wednesday after family members are notified.

Members of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration were on scene to conduct an investigation into the accident.
