LOGAN — One woman is dead after a head-on collision near Logan Canyon late Friday night, police said.
Late Friday night on southbound Highway 89 in Logan, at mile marker 485 near Beaver Ski Resort, a Subaru and a Chevrolet Suburban SUV containing seven combined occupants collided head-on, according to Trooper Evan Kirby of Utah Highway Patrol. The driver of the Subaru, identified as Tiffani Balling, 23, of Kaysville, died at the scene, Kirby said. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
The Suburban contained a husband, wife and three youths from ages 12 to 22, according to Kirby. One occupant of the Suburban was transported to the hospital by helicopter, and five others from the crash were transported by ambulance.
Police do not suspect impairment as a primary cause for the accident, but the case is still under investigation, Kirby said. Kirby did also state that Balling was at fault in the crash.
