MAGNA — People often shop at yard sales and thrift stores to find a good deal. But sometimes, the items for sale are priceless.

Brittany Jones has shopped at Deseret Industries many times and found something good. Recently she found something great inside a photo album.

"I thought it looked neat. It looked older," she said. "I opened it up and it was just full of all these old pictures and postcards."

Jones realized it wasn't just any album. Pictures of the guns, helmets, and a man apparently proud to serve his country were part of someone's history.

"I was just like, 'Oh my goodness. Who would give this away? Someone must be missing this,'" she said.

The album contained some clues, like the name of the man in the pictures from the early 1940s.

"His name is Eugene Wise Pierce," Jones said.

She researched Pierce and discovered he was born in 1914 in Marriott, Utah. He was the youngest of eight children and died in 2002.

The album also contained old letters and Pierce's military discharge papers.

Now, Jones hopes to find someone related to him, to give them something that she believes never should have been found at a thrift store.

"I'm just hoping to get it back to his family," she said, "because I know I would treasure having pictures like that."

Anyone who knows anything about Eugene Wise Pierce can contact Alex Cabrero at KSL, who will forward the information to Jones.
