OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- Colorado police are investigating an accident that left an Ogden mother and two of her children dead.
Police say Maria Ruiz, 26, may have fallen asleep at the wheel as she drove through southern Colorado on her way to Texas on Friday. Ruiz was traveling with her four children.
An investigation shows Ruiz's car drifted to the left side of the road about 10 miles south of Pueblo, Colo., and she overcorrected. Police say the vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and was struck on the passenger side by a minivan.
Ruiz and son Juan M. Garcia, 8, and Joshua E. Ruiz, 7, were killed at the scene. Two other children, 3-year-old Adali Garcia and 8-month-old Skyler E. Ruiz, were injured and are being treated in a Denver hospital.
