SANDY — A man accused of kidnapping, beating and raping a woman who had just begun renting a room in his Sandy home has now been charged with assaulting a second victim.

Vratislav Roger Bilek, 60, was charged Wednesday in 3rd District Court with aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony; drug distribution, a second-degree felony; and aggravated assault, a third-degree felony.

The charges are in addition to those filed last week against Bilek, including aggravated kidnapping, rape and three counts of object rape, all first-degree felonies. He was also charged with drug possession and two counts of aggravated assault, third-degree felonies; and sexual battery, a class A misdemeanor.

Bilek invited a woman he met in Salt Lake City to rent a room in his house, 563 Fruitwood Lane (10805 South), and then beat and raped her and held her inside his home hours after she arrived on Aug. 31, according to charging documents.

On Aug. 9, Sandy police responded to a similar incident in the same neighborhood involving another woman who had run to a neighbor's house "naked and injured" and pleading for help. She told detectives that "Roger" had offered her a place to stay and then he beat her, causing her to lose consciousness multiple times, according to a police report.

Now, the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office has charged Bilek in connection with the Aug. 9 case.

According to charging documents, the woman in that case said she was "held hostage for two days" in a home by "Roger." When police arrived at the scene, the woman had bruises on her face, arms and legs, was bleeding from nose, had small cuts on her shoulder and back and "other injuries throughout her body," according to court records.

The woman said Bilek gave her methamphetamine and also strangled her three times, "causing her to almost pass out," according to court records. She was also held in a basement bedroom closet for seven to nine hours, according to the charges.

She said Bilek used a handgun as a "shock factor," the charges state. She said she escaped when she was nude and asked to go upstairs to get a drink of water. Because Bilek did not believe she would try to run outside while naked, he allowed her to go upstairs by herself, at which time she unlocked the door and ran to the neighbor's house, the charges state.

Bilek is scheduled to appear in West Jordan's 3rd District Court again on Tuesday.
