SALT LAKE CITY — A woman was arrested Sunday after approaching police officers with a box cutter, officials said.

Salt Lake Police Sgt. Robin Heiden said Metro officers were dispatched to an incident near 210 S. Rio Grande around 10:35 a.m. Two officers were explaining smoking laws to some people when a woman on the street began to approach them, Heiden said.

The woman was wielding an open box cutter and approaching the officers in a “threatening manner,” Heiden said. The officers asked the woman several times to put down the box cutter before she complied. She was arrested without incident.

Letisha Lynn Yazzie, 21, was booked into Salt Lake County Jail on suspicion of brandishing a weapon with intent to commit assault and disorderly conduct.
