SALT LAKE CITY — A Salt Lake school has received national attention for making an impressive turnaround with their students.
In 2010, Northwest Middle School was in the bottom 10 percent of Utah middle schools. Now in 2013, it's ranked in the top 25 percent.
In 2010, only 37 percent of students passed their end of the year math exam, and this year, 79 percent passed.
Their writing scores were their lowest in 2010 with 15 percent passing. Now, 86 percent are proficient writers.
